I've been working next to this site ,unfortunately there isnt much to see these days.
apparently it was used as a storage field for new and surplus fighters, hurricanes and
such like.because of this it only ever had a grass strip which was soon put under the plough
after the war.
the aircraft were usually parked next to trees for cover from attack.
I believe it was used by a maintenance unit at some stage
there is a story told me by a local that during the war two large american aircraft [sorry no other info]
landed there and later they found they couldn't take of again so they had to stay there for the rest of the war, presumably they were used for spares and scrapped after the war
there would have been a couple of blister hangers [of which there is no sign] ,the guard house, which has now been converted into a bungalow, and a tractor shed which i think i found over the lane outside the site opposite the entrance, the only other thing i found was what looks like a fuel bowser, albeit with a replacement
tank on it.
it certainly looks military with split rim wheels and military bar grip tyres, also there is traces of light blue paint
on the mud guards, dont know if this would be right,im just guessing.

sorry the photos are a bit distant, but i was meant to be working!

Another hidden airfield. :) I reckon that come the winter when all the vegetation dies back a lot more of the site will be visible. There seems to be quite a few relics buried under those nettles.

Unfortunately I don't think there is.

I've researched WW2 airfields in Gloucestershire extensively (and visited most of them with Bishop), and I don't think there's much left here at all.
