I couldn't find a report of this place either so figured i'd get one posted
It's an old Ex Ministery of Defence Ammo Dump which was active during WWII.
a little history
This one's from back in Feb, in orrible HDR
And again but on the way down this time
A haven for graffiti artists
There's litearlly no light at all in there when you go deep inside, so i take my little light people iwth me
Or an accommodating friend
This was really freaky, in a pitch-black part of the site, clearly someone was squatting, and had a table with a little candle on, no sign of the occupant though.
Some old elevator to go between levels
And one of the many large tunnels in there

a little history
This site was aquired and building during WWII to house up-to 18,000 tons of weaponary. A train track was laid and linked it to the main network so that ammo could be stored or taken.
Disaster happened 6 months after it opened on 25th January 1942, when two thirds of the structure collapsed while a train of 27 wagons was docked. This train had 14% of the RAFs entire ammo on!
The reason for the collapse was due to the weight of backfill state that was put ontop of the structure and poor/rushed workmanship. When the collapsed area was cleared (now the open courtyard space) operations began again until the site was shut down in 1953.
