Britain’s first operational military airfield was set up in Montrose by the Royal Flying Corps in 1913.
Montrose aerodrome was a pre ww1 rfc training and flying areodrome, and saw service through to the 1950s.
Site covers a very large area.
A lot is now sadly gone but most hangers are still there but now industrial units.
This thread covers the rifle practise ranges.
But there are still many places left to explore.
1st range is in better condition than second one.

looks like one way of getting in to some place burn the door down (dont think door is connected with range but must have been carrid a long way to get there as range is in middle of knowhare):confused:

went in some bunkers on the aerodrome years ago the water down in one of them was red with the odd frog swimming around :neutral:

theres also one where you come into a big room with random pipes



never come across the rifle range before though, nice find :)
 
Good pics. Looks a really good site. Can't wait to see some more :)
