Renney was one of the larger calibre coastal defence batteries in the area...(matched by penlee on the other headland)

Built in the early 1900's, it was armed with 3 x 9.2" Breech loaders. although in 1942 this reduced to just two,

its protected by a pillbox on one side and an unclimbable fence on the other....renney camp was just behind (i believe) where a few new build houses have cropped up.....visited several times other the years....if you want to look its worth popping down to the houses to ask/tell them else a funny little man will come running over to you!

Good to see another Battery. Do you know if it was actually built in 1905 or modified then? It just seems a strange date to add defences. Interesting!
