I am asuming that this building is military because it has what look like blast walls, but if anyone knows any different I will move the thread.
I heard about this building from a friend who hunts on the mountain where this is. He told me it was like a bunker and had a tunnel. So I had to go and have a look:)
The building is situated on top of a mountain and is perched on the top of a canyon. I think the canyon used to be a railway cutting serving mines in the local area.

It is rectangle in shape and has blast walls leading to an entrance into the main room. There is another wall facing this entrance. It looks as if it used to be covered in earth but it has partly eroded away.

On the top there is a concrete hatchway that looks like it had a metal hatch on at one time, you can still see the impression.

On the side overlooking the canyon there is another brick structure about 3 foot across and square. It has water in it but you can see the remains of some metal sticking out of the middle.

The only other opening is a small round hole on the canyon side that is at head height inside. At the side of the building is a concrete footing, it is a bit overgrown so couldn't see any fittings on it.

This is the view from above.

Inside it has 2 rooms, the main one has the hole leading from the roof and has the remains of metal rungs sticking out of the wall.

It has had cows in it at one time as the whole floor is covered in c**p. The other room is a little smaller and has 2 rectangle raised slabs on the floor. Each slab also has a smaller raised section on each end.

The round hole you can see outside leads to this room. Also near to the floor in 2 corners are pipes leading outside. You can just see where one of the pipes comes out near to the entrance. They are about 16 - 18 inches across. The pipe you can see inside one of them is not fixed it has been put in there.

There is an amazing view from there of the surrounding valleys but you cannot see any of the towns as they are down in the valleys. It is not marked on any of the maps I have of the area and I cannot find anything about it online. So any ideas what this building is anyone?

Neath Bunker.

Nothing on Subbrit about that one, do you have a grid ref, local place name or flashEarth link?

Looks a bit anti-aircraft installation, the concrete slabs may be generator foundations, one part being for the engine the other for generator.

Yeah it looks exactly like one of them. Never come across them before. I will see if I can dig anything up about this one.

English heritage produced a book about these called "Fields of deception"

Phil

I recommend getting it from a local library instead of buying it, unless you're REALLY interested in the subject. The books a bit in depth.
