not posted before so I hope this goes OK..
There are loads of WWII sites around Romney Marsh, most of which are quite well known. Here are a few lesser-known smaller sites which I visited on a day trip in late Summer..
Firstly, a cute little OP overlooking the marsh area:
Inside with blast wall:
And wall brackets etc:
Next, on to Hamstreet WWII Royal Observer post & pillbox (Theres an underground ROC post in the same compound but its totally hidden by brambles:
Next stop, a pillbox overlooking Pett level. Immensely thick walls, but only a small entrance, so it may have been an OP only:
And nearby, a small anti-aircraft site, complete with crews quarters in the next field:
Also on my agenda was an auxiliary unit hideout, but this proved impossible to find, which makes sense I guess! I also stopped at Brookland to visit the ROC post, but this is quite well-documented elsewhere and is completely trashed internally
