Hi everyone,
not posted before so I hope this goes OK..

There are loads of WWII sites around Romney Marsh, most of which are quite well known. Here are a few lesser-known smaller sites which I visited on a day trip in late Summer..

Firstly, a cute little OP overlooking the marsh area:

Inside with blast wall:

And wall brackets etc:

Next, on to Hamstreet WWII Royal Observer post & pillbox (Theres an underground ROC post in the same compound but its totally hidden by brambles:

Next stop, a pillbox overlooking Pett level. Immensely thick walls, but only a small entrance, so it may have been an OP only:

And nearby, a small anti-aircraft site, complete with crews quarters in the next field:

Also on my agenda was an auxiliary unit hideout, but this proved impossible to find, which makes sense I guess! I also stopped at Brookland to visit the ROC post, but this is quite well-documented elsewhere and is completely trashed internally

These are really nice. I especially like the first one...love seeing the wall brackets still in situ. Excellent first post. :)
Welcome to DP, btw.

Here's another picture from the front - you can see the entrance at the rear. Looks a bit narrow to get a 6 pdr through?

You seem to be missing the huge great embrasure at the front that it would go through ;)

Definitely a 6pdr emplacement.
