Went for a quick visit here this evening. Daylight was against me but so as usual i only had time for a quick run around. Some of the buildings were being used to store hay, so internal shots were limited.
Here is a google Earth link: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&h....026535&spn=0.003536,0.009613&z=17&iwloc=addr

Heres some Subbrit info: http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/h/hayscastle_cross/index.shtml

Amazing how some artefacts can survive in one site, but be totally trashed in another. A couple of bits reminiscent of buildings at Crimond.

Loving the old agricultural bits n bobs too. :)

Thats a nice site. As Seahorse has said it's always good to have relics left untouched. The washbasin in the last pic is gorgeous. I have seen stuff like that sell for lots of money in reclamation shops.

Nice one :)

A good random mix of decay and survival

Good to see the stove still extant, I've seen countless bases for these, but never with the stove in situ!

Cheers Guys. The place is quite well preserved with no graffiti and just the usual smashed windows but no real vandalism. It has alot of interesting bits and the Subbrit info gives a great idea of how this place would have operated. Im gonna go back for a revisit to see if i can get into some of the buildings that were filled with hay bails, Im hoping to find all the electrical stuff! Alot of the buildings are quite overgrown aswell and it looks like a couple have been demolished since Subbrits visit, but theres still loads to see. Thanks again. :)

Nice one dumpty, good report and pictures

tommyramone has been promising a visit to this one for ages, may have to check it out when I come to get me tyres.

Cheers mate. Be careful if you do go visit as apparently the farmer who owns the land is a right psycho, i went late in the day to minimise risk. If you check out the subbrit pics it appears that there could be some great bits inside the larger buildings which currently have hay stacked inside them. Hope to see u in Pembs soon mate. :)

You have to be a bit psycho to live up in Hayscastle!!

Hang on, my auntie Cynth is originally from Hayscastle, oh bugger :)

Ah well, one more psycho in the family isn't going to hurt
