I found these today, one I'm guessing is a lookout tower/range tower, the other I'm not too sure about.

Onto the second building, I didn't go inside as I had to go to work after so I was dressed half decently.

Thanks for looking

Blimey, that first one's a bit tipsy! Poor thing...looks like it won't be upright for much longer. :(
Nice to see them though. Cheers for posting. :)

Yeah the first one certainly does look like its about to fall over! :)

Good Pics!

Yeah it feels pretty odd walking about inside, like a ship with list.:)
I'm fairly sure there is or was one that had fallen over, but I couldn't find it, and I got called into work as I was shooting the pics, a real pain, but Hey money talks!. Wayne

Tower.

I take a guess that the second tower was something to do with coastal navigation for the large dock a bit up the coast. ( In it's present state due to the advent of GPS).

A second guess would be it's something to do with the drainage ditch next to it?

The building and asphalt roof looks a bit sub-station standard?

As you said could have been used to house some sort of pump set in days gone by?

The first one looks very similar to the lookout post by whitford, although that one is on legs. i think it was for gunnery practice...

I went snooping there a few months back but by the time I got to the marshes some sort of warden guy turned up and told me to leave as it was dangerous due to un-exploded shells. I pointed out it was a lot less dangerous steppimg on them than driving a 2 ton land rover over them and if he wanted me to go he could try shifing me himself. He didn't get out but glared at me untill I left. Couldn't get to the tower anyway due to the tide. Have you got to it yet? Wayne

do you have a googlemap link for these. I have some old maps of this area including the steelworks. They might be on these

Nope, I reckon I'll need some running shoes to beat the tide, it comes in at quite a clip  It is another item on my to do list though. Before I got my camera at xmas i made a mental note of all the places I wanted to photograph. My last report was the first one on the list. the house in the wern is number 2 and the whole RAF fairwood site is number 3 (it is bigger than you think) Ill keep a check on the tides though and let you know if youre interested?
