Myself and Nemesis decided we'd have a few hours to visit Pendennis castle and see the WW2 guns, it was quickly realised the castle was closed due to the weather, and an alternative entry was arranged:)

we were there for the guns and the guns alone....so we went away delighted,

in the coastal batteries naval issue 6" BL guns were in great condition, although these wernt the guns in use in ww2, having been built in 1946,

half moon battery did see action in 1944 when they took action against german "E" boats on march 1st during the run up to D-Day,

also a few QF guns - same as those that were at staddon point, devils point etc plymouth

Nice photographs of the Bofors 40mm MK 1/3. Pity they don't have any sights or a Kerrison Director to exhibit, as this would give a better idea of how the British Army originally operated these guns in both the AA and ground defence role.

cool photos. was going to pop over there few weeks back when we were in that area. as said, it is nice to see them in place still :)

Some big ass guns, nice one.

What was the range on some of them?

think the range of the 6" Breech Loaders was around 16k, and the effective ceiling of the Bofors was "about" 12,000 ft,

3.3 miles not bad range

liking the pics dude, those guns are kept in very good condition :)

Bofors *swoon*

I want one. and a Lewis gun, and a 3.7" Ack Ack.

Not sure the wife would appreciate them in the garden though.

Nice report K, its good to see all the guns nicely restored, and the battery kept in good condition, if only they were all like this
And WOW a vanishing gun, not many of these left
