Opening in 1972 Research Vessel Servies was home to the National Environment Research Councils fleet of four research ships, RRS Discovery, RSS Challenger, RRS James Ross and RRS Charles Darwin,

The station was a refit and resupply centre for the fleet until mid 1995 when the operation was moved to the National Oceanographic Centre in Southampton.

Visited with a mate who's new to UE.. a nice little find :)
