Visited here after spotting the place on a regular travel route. After a bit of research we found that the original house was built in approx 1851. It was eventually bought by the Local Health Authority who used it for caring for people with mental health problems. The property was enlarged in 1992 when the rear extension was built. Since then the place was sold and recently had planning permission turned down. The owners wanted to demolish it and build a new nursing home. Unfortunately we were unable to find much information but we are still investigating and will add more if we find any.
Meanwhile the place is sat awaiting its fate.
Front view
Entrance porch
The staircase from the main hall
One of the original ground floor front rooms
A typical 'residents' room
Another bedroom
The quite modern kitchen
Some bits & bobs around the building
Scary cat pic!
HUGE lightshade
Old sewing machine
Strange hooks on the wall in one of the bedrooms!
Big fat bottom sofa!
Maybe the smallest window ever? (toilet roll added for scale!)
mmm tasteful wallpaper
Engaged?
Time we were out of here...
Cheers for looking
