Didcot Railway Centre is not exactly a derelict place - it's very much a going concern, attracting many visitors to its large premises. It sits right next next to Didcot railway station on the Great Western (I refuse to add their 'First' to that - I mean, have you seen the turds between the rails at Reading Station? Have you smelt the old piss on the stairs to the bridge at Newbury??? Last Great Western works well for me).

The entrance to the Centre is via a tunnel from the station entrance, under the main line. There are plenty of fine examples of old steam locomotives, which are regularly steamed up to provide rides for visitors on the centre's own lines. In addition, there are lots of old and derelict bits and pieces of other rolling stock, as well as some interesting old, but working, diesels. The place is full of rich derelict rust and texture, and you could be forgiven for thinking you'd infiltrated somewhere forbidden.

I'm aware there are a few railway lovers here, so here's a handful of tasters:

OMG you are haveing a laugh. The place is literally round the corner from me and I have never even considered going there and I'm sure Fluffy will hav ea few words to say being it is on his door step so to say.
Some interesting places to photograph you have found but I do hope you don't upset the enthusiats who work there showing the parts they would rather we did not see. Nice one mate.:)

I went there a few years ago & found it very interesting, I remember some parts looked fairly neglected.

Sod the railway center, just walk from the shell garage at the top of town down the broadway to the roundabout at the bottom, you'll see more rust and dereliction and get way more of a feeling of being somewhere forbidden than you ever would by paying to go in there:lol:
