I came across Newark's old bus station on my travels this week. I don't know whether there is a new bus station or not. I don't even know if this was just a bus station for coaches, not public transport buses. I'd have liked to have seen the Routemaster that's advertised on the poster, but I'm 4 months too late LOL!

You can get into this bus station just by walking down the side of it. It's not fenced off or anything. I wonder what's gonna happen to the site now?

hi nickyw_uk the bus station is being redeveloped into a asda store and a new bus station incorporated into the site there will be a doctors surgery, health centre, retail units, housing and 411 car parking spaces.
work on the redevelopment is expected to be completed by christmas 2011.

Obviously a new use of the word "old" I was previously unfamiliar with. Seriously that doesn't look like an "old" bus station...

Depends on your interpritation of the word old, Old to me is something that is no longer in function and no longer being maintained, which in this report is the case.

Well I could be pedantic... but no, it's OK, I'm getting used to seeing things I not only remember seeing being built but also being regarded at the time as "new" in the architecturally adventurous way now being torn down and replaced with something - er - "new". It comes with maturity :)

Thing is this bus station is a modernist design, flat roofs, big windows, straight lines, no fancy crinkly bits on the edges of things. It's what the future was going to be like, it wasn't supposed to get old. Yeah all right it was also probably cheaply built, badly designed and generally rotting away but so what?

Looks like a typical 60's design bus/coach station to me. Though nice to see it so 'worn down'. Thanks for sharing.
