Thrybergh Country Parkis around 15km from Sheffield city centre. There's a reservoir and a disused waterworks with various buildings/filter beds. Not much left but it's quite interesting. There's a nice stepped cascade which is quite long. The reservoir was built between 1874 and 1880 to provide a source of drinking water for Doncaster. In 1977, The reservoir was decommissioned and subsequently bought by Rotherham Council in 1983.
Apparently it's due to be demolished to make way for an educational centre. Maybe it's already gone!?

There's more to see but I didn't take photo's of everything as I was with the family so didn't want to be too long. Wife's don't understand this sort of thing :confused:;)
 
i really liked this, i enjoy looking at the old style water stuff so nice one, did u go down by the pipe though.....is the tunnel big or long?
 
Nice one VFR800 (nice bike by the way). I am a real fan of pumping stations and would love to know whats behind the closed doors :question:
