I had a wonder down this line a few months back. I'm glad i did as the line is now in the process of being recommissioned and trains will shortly be running along it once again, a good news story for a change! http://www.croxleyraillink.com/ That said, i did find one vehicle was still in service on the line!

UPDATE
OK seems i was a little premature, the line is not going to be recommissioned just yet! http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/8839387.Rail_link_fight__far_from_over_/
However, there is some work going on, see my update below.

I was running out of light and didn't have a torch on me so i don't have many decent photos, however it has been well documented already here: [ame]http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?t=15235[/ame]

What's this at the end of the line?

A moped-engine driven handcar! Looks like the local residents cleared a section of track and had some fun! Great stuff!!

Cheers for looking!

Nice to know this is being resurected. Did the moped engine work on that track car?

I've wandered up many disused railways and never come across a handcart like that, I'd love one of them. Great stuff!!

Update April 2011

I took another walk down to the line today to gab photo of the work that is going on there and ended up taking a short trip down the eastern half of the line. I came across a couple of bits a short distance away from the tracks that were worth mentioning:

Here is a photo of Vicarage Road (not sure of the date but would estimate late 40s - 50s).

In the centre ground is the pitch and East stand, above that Cardiff road power station (long demolished) and above that Wiggenhall Road Train Depot. It was demolished in the 80s but I think i stumbled across the foundations of part of the depot under a huge pile of rubbish:

Not exactly my idea of a living room...

I also found what remained of the handcar, shame:

And here's the work in progress as of April 2011:

WARNING!
If you want to have a walk down there make sure to watch out for used needles under the bridges!

i can just imaging the signalmans face as the lights on the panel lit up and moved when that cart was running up and down the line! would have been priceless!
