Having seen this place in a few reports and being only just down the road from my house, I thought I would check it out. Altogether, its worth it. There is some interesting (if mainly empty) staff quarters at the top end of the site and a raised walkway that adds an interesting perspective on the size of the depot, its big! However, nature has truly taken over with huge weeds growing to great heights and countless spider webs to unknowingly stumble through. This has its downsides as overall, despite the stunning roof that gives great light, it isn't that interesting a sight to photograph, or at least I couldn't see it. I spent most of my time here in the ruined staff quarters concentrating on more of the details than much else. But I would say its well worth a visit, if only for the fun it is getting in.

Don't know too much about the place other than it was closed around 2004.

Hope you all enjoy the photographs.

A shame you didn't do more of the tracks, overgrown tracks/platforms can look really good!

it is a former parcels depot closed in 2004 , it will be modernised for new homes .

Yes, I got distracted by the inside and then lost the light that was on the tracks when I got back out. Still quite new to this and get excited by the dereliction inside. Its a feast for the eyes! Good location though. I enjoyed the day.

Ecs

nearly right guys.

its the Empty Coaching Stock shed at Camden. back in BR times when all long distance trains out of Euston where hauled by a locomotive they had a rake of coaches behind them (unlike today where trains are made up of complete sets) and these coaches were shunted into the shed for cleaning in the night and tripped back down to the terminus by the morning.

it did have a red star parcels section but it only handled parcels for Scotland (the rest of the country being handled at Euston)
there has been a railway structure on this site since 1838 !!!! and this current building was erected in 1962 as part of the west coast electricfication programme. it sometimes went by the name of North Bridge depending on what part of the railway you worked on and the side door entrance for pedestrians was known as 'the zoo' and it will be a total shame that its being turned into flats/houses.

been round here when it was open and closed and i thank you very much for posting it

cheers mate, that is a comprehensive history. much appreciated.

it is a indeed a dreadul shame that it will soon be houses.

I worked in here in 2000 when it was temporarily taken over as a resignalling depot during the Euston remodelling, having been vacated by Royal Mail because we temporarily closed that side of the layout for several months. I remember testing the new signalling connecting it to the main line. Shame it only lasted 4 years! Most of the other Royal Mail terminals were only recently renewed and were abandoned at about the same time when EWS lost the haulage contract.

Some nice shots there mate. Interesting. I am gonna have to go back to take some of the scene. Keep doing that!
