Tucked away up a small lane lie the remains of a former ammunitions factory in the later years used to store grain..A really nice splore lots of buildings with long brick corridors with small rooms coming off them..in one of the larger building a small stairway leads you down to several large rooms again with small ones coming off them, remains of the grain stores are still visable also..one of the building is rammed full of traffic lights! a very strange thing to find! the only history we could find of the place is below:

depot buildings which are mainly comprised of brick built structures with
flat roofs although three buildings incorporate pitched roofs. These
buildings (together with others subsequently removed), according to
research undertaken were used in the war for the
production of 0.303 calibre ammunition and required a significant labour
force together with accommodation. It is claimed that there are
unconfirmed reports the buildings have been used since to house
refugees although they are now derelict apart from one building which is
being used by a builder as a small depot.

Any more history anyone can find ide be very welcome of it.

Credit to Perjury Saint who spotted this place and a good splore too..big thumbs up:)

Well, cork absorbs moisture. Might be something to do with its use.

Edit : Bugger, just re read that. Sorry guys I meant repels moisture (brain elsewhere, mouth in gear etc). I'll be more specific. Fire resistant, also absorbs sound and heat.

Top little splore that eh miss kitten, photos are the usual excellent quality.
If cork was used to absorb moisture, maybe this is where the gunpowder was stored?
Nice one!!

Cork's generally used as a sound insulator. Room looks more like a corridor though. Interesting!

Maybe they tortured people there.

Love the shot of the bog roll holder with the little hands.
