Gedney railway station was a station in Gedney, Lincolnshire. It was a station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway network. It was closed in 1959. The station survives today but in a derelict state. Part of a once mighty cross country Joint railway The Midland and Great Northern Railway was an amalgimation of small branch lines into what finally became a 180 mile cross country Joint railway, stretching from the East Midlands to the Norfolk coast. Closed almost entirely on the 29th February 1959, there are many artefacts still remaining.

I just looked at that on GE - it's cool how you can see the fields either side (particularly to the right) still show evidence of where the line ran (soil colour different).

Also a building a mile or two to the left looks in-line with the station, it looks lived in now but the upstairs windows are bricked up. I wonder what that was, and why they never un-bricked them.

Nice to see this place again i loved the old sign which still stands you don't get to see many of those these days defo a nice little explore this one

You're welcome X. I had a bit of a misfortune in the ticket office. Whilst stood taking a shot, I decided to move forward to get closer to the subject. There was a load crack of floorboards and I decided to plummet 4 feet through the floor banging both my elbows either side of the floor. Oww! The Fuji was not damaged thank god. Naturally once I found I was ok, the laughing started!
