Neither really. If it's rural, which most places round here are, it usually gets left until it becomes just another pile of stones from what I can tell.
That's why there are hundreds of untouched abandoned farms out here, no-one sees the point in demolishing them and while conversion/renovation is growing in popularity, it still doesn't seem to be making much of a dent in the number of abandoned buildings, most being too far gone for that and there not being a huge housing demand like there is in southern England.

All the best with your studies! Me other half studied at Lampeter & whilst in nearby Cardigan, did a quick recce in the old castle & Castle Green House -worth a look if you're ever in that area ;)

P.s. -planning a trip down to Hastings soon, as I've some relatives in the area. Will let you know if I find anything. Does anyone know anything about the old Hospital outside of Hastings, which I've got on me website? -a name would be a great start!! :lol:
