Re: School off the A6

Sounds interesting. Post some pictures.
Slightly confused however as the A6 runs north/south through matlock.

Re: School off the A6

OK, a few small pictures that will hopefully identify this school. It's North West of Matlock by Darley Dale.

As you can see, desks are still in place - I was able to get some shots of the prefab buildings, though no shots inside the main (old) building. Love to get any information on this place!

That would be St Elphins School.

Cheers - thanks for that Rob, having now poked around you're absolutely right. There's more on the school here: http://www.schoolsguidebook.co.uk/schools/St_Elphin146s_School.html and ex pupils include Richmal Crompton (Just William books) and Penny Junior. It was sold in June 2005 and may be turned into a Care home/village.

Suffice to say it looks very interesting from the outside, and given what I saw through the windows I imagine its going to be fascinating inside. If, of course, it was possible to get in. :)

Phil.

Re: School off the A6

Definitely looks like one to keep an eye on, if that was in my
part of the world I'd be tempted to check it out every couple
of weeks in the hope of eventually finding access.

Neat that the classrooms are still furnished and that they
still have kids pictures on the wall.
