St Nicholas House

A few pics of the thankfully half dead carcass of St Nicholas House in Aberdeen. The ex council headquarters built in the 60's has been an eyesore since day one. The council have spent a fortune doing up the very nice Marischal College building across the road to fill the gap. Been coveting this building and a few others for a while now.

Second floor main drag? The big long bit that leads to the octagonal house that all the dodgers pay council rent in.

Plenty of stuff on the roof but none at ground level. Phone died at the end.

Great pictures mate but two of them appear to be upside down.

Aberdeen would have looked fantastic 150 years ago when all the large granite buildings were like this but now it just looks and feels like a horrible, grey soulless city IMHO. I like the place for it's history and some of it's older buildings: the original office and residence of the architect John Smith http://www.scottisharchitects.org.uk/architect_full.php?id=201801, who designed many of the buildings in the city, is now rather sadly an extension to a pub/club but worth a look-see just for the ornate but blocked off entrance, thru this archway --> http://goo.gl/maps/iiDdS. I think it's quite sad that the home of someone who was responsible for such splendid buildings throughout NE Scotland should have become the shabby, ignored, unknown building that it is now (http://goo.gl/maps/ExFxO)

I hope you did,nt meet the mouse that ran around that wheel in front of the lifts !!!
