Well I have no idea where the mile part comes from as the tracks are actually 800m. Well according to Wikipedia anyway. Doing more research is just getting confusing. I have found that there maybe more to the site than what I or others have posted.
Some of the site is live with one big dish here and some others nearby.
Here are a few of my shots.

There's another standalone dish to the East, making the maximum triangulation distance (or parallax, I dunno which term they prefer) 1 mile.

The large white radio telescope is still in use. :)

I know the one you mean. I think one of the shots is from it. Thanks for the explanation.
 
These radio telescopes can be coupled together. Two dishes, one mile apart work the same as one dish that is one mile across. It's called an Interferometric Telescope.
