Always saw this place whilst driving to Plymouth, and finally went there late last year. At the main entrance to the field there's a house, and the people living there actually own the stand, luckily they were both more than happy for us to have a look about the place. It's the only part left of what was an old race course, can't find much more history on the place :(

If I remember correctly it wasn't a racecourse as is commonly known, it's the spectator stand for an old point to point course.
 
Oh really! My friend who came along seemed to think that's what it was, I can see why people think it though. Thank you :)

I think Krela is correct. Point to point races had stands like this. They are quite rare to find now, I think, but one or two are in the Land Registry deeds to properties. Often the owners can't do anything about them owing to restrictive covenants.

That's the Buckfastleigh course, it's still in use for point to points.
