Fancied this after seeing it knocking about a bit over the past few months. We had a list of other things to see and recce in the area, so me and Pb popped up for a look.

The site itself is build on an old ordnance storage site, which explains the buried enclosures in places and is dotted with a number of aperture synthesis radio telescopes. Radio is used because it is the better means of detecting phenomena in the universe. Some telescopes are still in use and others are now defunct.

One of the first things we saw when we got on site was this big ass Merlin telescope. It was covered in cameras, so we kept our distance.

On the whole it was a very pleasant explore. Got to love the countryside in these ends :) Cheers to Pb for coming along and sharing the driving and cheers to those that gave us tips on getting in to the various places we hit that day :)

Thanks for looking.
