    Post The Bridge Hotel

Once known as The Wash House Inn, The Bridge Hotel is due for demolition following an application by the landowner. A parish councillor was trying to have the building listed, but English Heritage claimed it was of no historic value. According to a local historian a building has been on this site as far back as 1640.

This has been on my to-do list since May last year and I recently got around to visiting it. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of access considering the signs warning of the building being monitored and how overlooked the building is in general.

This is what the hotel used to look like:

...this is how it looks now:

    Thanks for looking,

From the external shot it didn't look too bad, the vandalism and level of literacy is sickening, worth a nose though, Thanks

I like how you've captured this. Good to get it before it's gone.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
