After visiting the mill mill house we went a few feet down and went to this other house.not as big as the first house but it was still a grand one.with nice features.the house had been converted to a management building for the old mill what stood here.

Just over the way from the house was a large shed with water tanks next to it.so we had a quick look.looking at the water feed to here and the floor covered in white I can only guess this was used for starching the material.if I am wrong then please correct me.i liked this room so thought I would throw the pics in here.

Another one of your interesting reports. This is nicely recorded and the house is in not too bad condition, there's even toilet paper in the holder.

You do not indicate if the mill in question made textiles or paper - all the chemical names seen in your photographs were used in both industries. Unfortunately starch does not enter the most probable use of this mill. Aluminium Sulphate and Lime are commonly used in the treatment of raw water prior to manufacturing use and prior to waste water discharge, after the manufacturing process, as effluent - In water/effluent treatment the aluminium sulphate acts as a flocculant. However, it can also be used in the dying industry where it acts as a mordant - it fixes the dye chemicals into the fabric fibres to give permanent colour. You probably have here the remains of a water treatment plant attached to the dye house of a textile manufacturer; but then again it could be the remains of an effluent treatment plant for any number of processes in the engineering industry. No matter what the process was, you have a grand set f images here!

Thank you for the info ds..the mill had long gone and all that remains is the two houses.the aluminium sulphates and lime tank was in a seperate very dark room to the other one with all the white over it.which made me think it was starch.that room sits next to a large water treatment plant..I have tried finding info on the mill to not much avail.but I will keep hunting
