Burton County Court is a Grade II Listed building and was purposely designed and built as a County Court in 1862 in the typical styles of the period.

It is situated within the George Street Conservation Area of Burton upon Trent and was first saved from closure back in 2010. Three years later its fate was sealed when and the Georgian courtroom heard its final case. Government and local council cost saving measures have made these grand old buildings a burden, being more costly to run and maintain so closures have happened all over the country.

Its classical symmetrical stonework has “vermiculated rustications”:glee: which create a textural finish resembling worm tracks carved within its square block ashlar masonry…they look a bit like brains from a distant, you can’t help running your fingers over them, I think someone saw me doing this and got rather scared.

There were plans to redevelop the building into 9 apartments but at the moment it lies unoccupied and on the market to let. All County Court and family matters are now dealt with in Derby, fancy that.

Are you nicely chilled and mellow? No bailiffs trying to bash ya door in? No? Good...have a look at these whilst I go and hide…

There isn’t a load to see in this place but it still makes for a good explore even if there’s quite a few empty rooms.

I’ve tried to find out who the bearded dudes are but there’s not a lot of info out there about the building.

A very good report there. The building looks nice and inside and out and would make ideal apartments. A lot of nice features such as the balusters on the stairs, the ceiling and the features on the outside. Superb.

Cheers Mikey, I agree a little sparse but still a nice chilled explore.

Ha ha...superb report PV. Some nice staircase porn there. And a bit of luck with the non-purchase of a parking ticket!

Hahaha cheers HD...I'm not always so lucky with parking tickets so when I escape one I'm proper happy!

interesting to see in here, thought you were in the other empty court though to start with, the one on horninglow street opposite guild street, the one built in 1910 with the massive lead dome on the top, thats empty, someone needs to do a report in there, ive been in there once, but when it was open lol
though it may be tricky as its next to the pig station !!!
