Default Royal Mail Sorting & Delivery Office, Newport | March 2018

The Royal Mail Delivery Office, NEWPORT | March 18

The Royal Mail Delivery Office in Newport was built in the early 1960s and Royal Mail operated the building on it's own until 2003 when It had to share the building with IAC. They occupied the building together until Royal Mail vacated the building in 2010 and relocated to Delta House in Queensway Meadows. IAC finally vacated the site in 2016 and the site has been given the green light to be torn down and replaced with a hotel.

Used to walk past here all the time. Lovely place for a hotel... I would have thought the old Sainsburys site would make more sense.

The snow adds to the harsh cold feeling of the building too:)

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
