Default Bell Wharf (Swanscombe Peninsula)--June 2018

The Swanscombe Peninsula is located on the south side of the River Thames, a few miles East of the Dartford crossing.
The wharf was used by the local cement works.
This site is going to be demolished in 2019 to make way for a theme park called "The London Resort".

Despite not being able to get onto the wharf itself, I did manage to find a way to get beneath it.

There was also this structure nearby (pillbox, maybe):

I also managed to get anti-climb paint onto my hand:

Nice. Very little left but what remains is interesting.

Not a lot there but at least you recorded it before it gets destroyed.

All part of the Anti aircraft batteries and land defences that guarded this important site during WW2.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
