Police station, Malaysia April 2008

From an old wall calender in the building I can assume this police station was abandoned in 1998.
The style of the building looks to be pretty old and could actually be pre war, 1930's ish.

The building is laid out with living quarters and office space to the front of the building, with toilets,
bathrooms and small kitchen areas are to the rear. The main reception hall has a large holding cell and
probably a small interrogation room next door, which was unfortunately locked.

Stories during the Malayan Emergency in the 60's, tell of gun battles being fought behind this building,
resulting in the deaths of a few communists terrorists (CT).

Hit and run tactics would be normal operating procedure during this time for CT's.
CT's would also target planters and their families living on far out estates. These plantations might have
a lone guard who had to ring a bell at regular intervals. The idea being, if you didn't hear the bell again,
he was dead .... Genius!

Really like the building. Great pics as always, Raz.

The plant life round here have the annoying ability of being able to fight back.

They can be pretty deadly, they either stab you with their rows of syringe like thorns,
or poison you with their sap if you break any part of them. Then there are the wee beasties
who live on the plants who can be just as nasty.

Love this place Raz, those arches at the front look great. and love all the reflections in the water inside the building. Like the pic of the bars on a cell.
