Well, they say 3rd time lucky, and in this case i believe 'they' are right!!
After 2 fruitless searches on both sides of the racecourse, tonight we hit the jackpot!!!!!
Myself, Geordie and Dog-Geordie grinned our succesfull way around this place..... however, the grins faded from me after a little while.
Having spent a summer here a long time ago, it was heartbreaking to see it in this state, there is absolutley nothing left now save for a few lonely flagpoles and the obsticle course. It was eerily silent, and as the light was fading we decided to call it a day having only seen about half the site.
Can't find an awful lot of info on the place, as it seems tied in with the racecourse quite a bit. The racecourse itself having got very run down before it was bought out by Northern Racing in 1994. Not sure the place has been closed quite THAT long, but it has certainly been a while.
There was a last visit by some scouts last summer to celebrate the centenery of scouting, but thats all we can find of it so far, and that it was opened on the 1st of may. Which year?
Well we couldnt find that out either..........
Anyway, on with the pics........
