I've been driving past these once a week for a couple of years now, and didn't know they were there until we popped in on the way elsewhere.

This is the stable block for a long gone racecourse

Its odd, the block seems to be in a school car park

Dont know what this is, or was

There are also some pretty impressive gateposts standing nearby. I believe that its all on the buildings at risk register

Impressive looking stable block. Nice find.
I think the odd thing might be the base of a tower...just a guess, mind. It's rather interesting, whatever it is.
Good stuff! :)

That is a very nice stable block. Love all the outside of the building. Was there anyway to see the inside of this building? It's fantastic.

Excellent pics mate, didn't know about this one.

Cheers,

:) Sal

ps, ok, looking at it now on google maps, the stone circular type building looks like it used to be a tower, as a little further south from that, there looks to be a stone (or brick) gate house. (two towers, one each side of the former drive, with an arch between the two).

Hope that helps?

Looks like a lovely place. Could the circular feature on the mini-tower have contained a face?

Thanks for sharing.

No photos of the gate house? I have some but I will have to dig through my hard drives

Dont think i took any of the gatepost type gatehouse that stands in front, if thats the bit you mean - bricked up doors in the bottom of both tower bits? Plus we were on the way elsewhere so it was a swift once round. There is a boarded up house behind the outhouses at the back and someone has mentioned ex gun emplacements etc dotted round on the site, will wander over another time and have a better look round
