    Default Newport Technical Institute

Right, after having to remove this report a long time ago due to some impending ill-thought out legal threats from a third party, I figured I'd post this report back up now for a few reasons:

    1) The above died down fairly quickly.
    2) This place is pretty much finished being converted to flats now.
    3) It's an incredibly beautiful building that seemingly few got to see. If you've not seen it then please go check out [ame="https://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?t=7008"]sinnerman's report for some beautiful images from before the builders moved in and ripped out the parquet flooring and murals.

    1. Top floor corridor, worklights in place

    2. Parquet flooring had been ripped up and stacked on pallets ready for removal/resale

    3. An attic space

    4. Attic crawl space

    5. Inside it's iconic dome above the main entrance

    6. Beautiful glazed bricks and incredibly think peeling paint.

    7. In the main lobby, the first area people would have seen on entering the main doors.

    8. A lecture hall being used for stashing debris being removed by workers. Note fire damage.

    9. Ground floor corridor.

    10. The main hall. Being open to the elements had taken it's toll on this place.

    11. Female toilets.

    12. Maile toilets, they don't make porcelain like that any more.

    13. Backlit peeling paint over glazed bricks.

    14. Incredible main staircase.

    15. Obligatory self-portrait.

What a stunning building. Your first pic, the Hall, and the glazed brickwork / peely paint pic sum it up well.

Interesting to see how things are progressing and great to see that there are still some of the nice details left. Shame about the spiral staircase, though. :(
Superb photos, cogito. The first pic is stunning. :)

Definitely need to hook up some time Sheepy, cheers for the help too.

Glad people like the first pic, I love it but up 'til now had fairly neutral responses about it. Still needs a little work I think in regards to colour and contrast. Plus it's not *quite* straight.

This is just beautiful, I absolutely LOVE glazed bricks, there are a lot of them near where I live, mostly on old pubs that are now other things like offices, they just last and last. Beaultiful set of images, great explore!
