Location
Derby. I travel the UK with my job so plenty of ex
Just got back from a splore my mate tipped me off about.

He told me he knew the previous owners of the house from the mid 80's. Anyway, we went to have a look, ignored the obligatory 'keep out' sign and the 'under constant surveillance' sign believing it to be a fake.......

From the front there was now way into the house as all the doors and windows had been sealed with blockwork. Top floor at the rear windows had been breached and the windows were pretty much gone. Never had a ladder so was a bit peeved we couldn't get in.

We noticed huge security fencing adjacent to the property......

We continued to searh the rear of the building and came across what looked like old office suites and definite farm buildings that were heavily overgrown with brambles.

Video coming shortly, (if ok with admin, or I can delete the police involvement bits) will be heavily edited to delete my firms website info and phone number as I got out of the van to film the cops just in case the fitted us up for breaking and entering.

Phew, what a splore.

Take this as a warning from me, don't go in, the place is very heavily protected by security. The signs there are real, defo no go zone unless you want nicking.

People want excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I want excitement I'll go abseiling, or skydiving, or something really exciting. When I go out exploring, i'm documenting a building by taking pictures and making a report. I get excitement from finding out the history of places, not from other stuff.

Sounds great, I love a bit of a scrape, it gets my heart started ! (anyway, I know a good lawyer....)
get that remote helicopter going !! they can't arrest one of those.....
shame they are not agile enuf to get into buildings !

I am with Sal on this one. The whole idea of this website is to document Derelict and abandoned Places and their history in pictures and the written word. I do not think it is a place for that kind of video. Sorry Keep Out you have lost the plot.

I agree about the docu stuff.

On my second site visit today (the one that didn't involve any entanglements other than brambles and thorns) I got chatting to two kind people also exploring the site.

They told me they were involved in the site 7 years ago to the point they actually exchanged contracts but it all went tits up legally. They told me they were there to reminisce about the place they could have bought and done up.

God knows what they must have thought about bumping into a bloke with a video camera, hi vis fleece and top spec dusk mask on his face! We had a long chat about the place and they left me to it. I will post the video on here for people that may be interested in looking at yet another derelict place in Derbyshire.

From the visit, I learned something about the history of the site and filmed it for my own posterity (and yours) before it gets turned into a block of flats.

I like the music, but the video.....well???

My 5 year old son could do better.

Am i wrong to think that we are mostly here to document derelict/abandoned building and the like? usually by posting visual exidence as such?

All that video does is fill me full of frustration, as i would like to see the buildings, but instead i get a video that looks like the camera is strapped to a dogs tail!!

Sort it out :icon_evil

The house itself is pretty unexciting, the Pirate and myself had a look around last summer - very 1980s with its stone fireplace, avocado bathroom and fake 'rustic' look. It's right next door to a Vivisection facility, and the abandoned building has been used in the past by environmental protesters and such people.

This feels a bit like a witch hunt. Give it a break.

Sorry Krela,

You have to agree, we can handle things looking like that when you're pissed, but sober  and watching that first thing in the morning - i just had to moan :(

Sorry KO

Nut nut, your dog runs backwards then ?

A little too much wobble but a nice tour of the place.

Does it matter how the place is documented as long as it is before it gets knocked down/converted/falls down?
Each to their own and as Krela says, give the guy a break !

I agree, it made my eyes go wonky too, but there are ways of saying things that are slightly less witch-hunt ish than others :)
