    Default Villa Branca

This beautiful villa, including a huge winecellar, was once the property of a rich winemaker.
    The villa dates from 1912.
Abandoned in 1981 after the lady of the house died.

These are lovely photos Bart - they really capture the style of this sort of residence, which is what the Spanish call an American house (because they were usually built by people at the end of the 19th century/early 20th century by people who had been to the Americas, made loads of money and come back)
A couple of pictures below might give an insight into what it looked like in its finery - these are of a place called the Mas Cort House in Torroella di Montgri, which has been recently restored and is of a similar vintage.

Again, great pictures and thanks for sharing

DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
