Standing parked on a former military airport, these 8 Antonov AN2 bi-planes are slowly rotting away.
Probably the lack of money is the reason nothing is happening with them.

The AN2, designed by Oleg Antonov during WW2.
It was used as a light utility transport, parachute drop aircraft, agricultural work and many other tasks
suited to this large slow-flying biplane.
Its slow flight and good field performance make it suited for short, unimproved fields,
and some specialized variants have also been built for cold weather and other extreme environments

There was one left in Grenada when the Eastern Block forces were removed in 1983, it was still there in the early 1990s, along with 1-2 other Soviet made civil planes.

Nice one Bart thats my kinda post. Superb :) An An2 was at Kemble Air Show this year and with a good headwind it would literally hover above the ground - very slow speed handling qualities.

The worlds largest single engine biplane. Theres onlyone still flying, at Sywell.

Theres a couple in the uk, One at popham and im not sure about the oyher but its reg no. is ha-ang. Great captures.

Definately one at Popham as I was wandering around the outside of it last week.

Nice report bartje - looks like to get around a bit to get reports from remote places like these.

Like others, I like the b & w first photo the best.

A perfect example of objects hiding in plain (or should I say plane  ) site, stretched my ability to find them on Google Earth though, but managed in the end.
