Next we come to the Blacksmiths where the drill bits were repointed and sharpened and the jack hammers repaired.

The mine had it's own power station, the main generating set was shiped from Germany in pieces and assembled on site in 1906 so I'm told.

The site has lots of these! I'm told that Cyanide was used to leach gold from the ore as well as to help speed you up the promotion ladder!:lol:

We were only there for a week so we did'nt get time on this trip but if the credit card recovers in time I hope to get back over there to see the aircraft boneyard and the ICBM silo near Tucson next October.
 
Great pics. I can't believe that relics of the gold rush still remain. But, knowing the size and remoteness of Arizona, I can believe it.

Recognised an old stationary single cylinder steam engine in there. They go back at least 150 years.
