No history on this I’m afraid, everything I find on it is in some strange language. X Press printers is an old print works found in a fairly ramshackle building, some of its in an old house which merges in to a warehouse and then into a sort of barn? Its full of old records, books and printing equipment some dating back well over a 100 years.

Nice one Al, good set there which sums up the entire place as opposed to just the best bits.

Most of my shots are just repeats from earlier in the year ([ame]http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showpost.php?p=160872&postcount=5[/ame])

But here's a couple of new one including the boiler room.

Thanks for sharing Tigger, good shots on your Flickr site.

Really good to see this one again and with lots more pics too. Those brown paper packages tied up in string (sounds like a song, lol)...did they contain printing plates, by any chance? I was a printer in my early career and that's how we used to store the metal litho plates.
Enjoyed seeing your Flickr pics too, Tigger. Cheers guys. :)

Hey Foxy,

When i was there, there were a mix of plates and of what looked to be unbound, uncut proofs/1st runs with and trannies that needed inserting...

Pics look great Mr B:)

As do yours Tigger,

Foxy, the brown paper packages were indeed plates, apparently there used to be a lot more of them but they seem to have gone walkies :(

Never new you where a printer! Do you know how to work one of these?:

No, that's a flat-bed press. I'm not entirely certain of the details, but they were used as part of the book-binding, folding and collating process. I was an offset litho printer for a few years on Rotaprint and Multilith machines, which are small versions of the big ones used for newspaper printing. :)
