Firstly, thanks for making your way through the first report and bothering to pop along to the second - much appreciated :D

So, it's the second day of my explore here, although there has been a day between the two. Again, awkward train times leave me with only 2 hours on site, but anything is better than nothing...

I had already found an access to the female pavilion, so decided to return to get some better shots. The site was much busier, what with it being a pleasant day and a public holiday. I counted at least 12 other explorers, as well as a group doing a professional looking fashion shoot. It was, in fact, so busy I had the unusual situation of queuing to clamber through a broken window. Anyway, I got a few more shots here...

Can't do this place without corridor shots ;)

I then decided on a closer look at the surgery building, although access had seemed barred before. I spent a long time painstakingly checking boards and seeing if i could fit in cellar windows, only to find that as I moved to the far side of the building, the main doors had been broken down. I took the opportunity and wandered in, being very grateful for my new dust mask and head torch, especially as I ventured down to the cellars.

I spent rather longer in the surgery than I had planned, however it is very large and very interesting. As I once again made my way towards the station, I noticed the laboratory had also been freshly opened up. I couldn't resist dropping in for a few quick shots...

All in all, a very good explore, just rather too short. A revisit is without doubt in order, hopefully over summer/autumn if I can sort things out...

Again, thanks all for looking, I hope you've enjoyed it

The surgery light pic is awesome, looks like you need a weekend to get round the place, fantastic reports!

Thanks :) You really do need a whole weekend. I basically only managed to cover a quarter of the site, and not overly thoroughly. Good news is though, there's a hotel in one of the renovated buildings - I'll be using that next time

First class report with great pictures! Thanks for posting

Another fine report there RR! :)

Thank you very much for your kind comments

fantastic..wonder what the piles of glass are about?

Thanks  Who knows, it looked like someone had been making a cursory attempt to clear the broken glass around the glass-walled surgery rooms, but that would be a pretty thankless task tbh

A hotel you say? Is that up in the working hospital quarter? I didn't spot it but then I was sort of trying to close my mouth the entire time I was up that end, it's just so damned "purdy"!!!

Having said that we enjoyed the wonderful feeling of anticipation travelling in on the train from the centre of Berlin every morning!

As to your assumptions that they are "cleaning up", yup... there's loads of evidence all over the shop of them starting to do stuff bpoth inside and outside the buildings. We found the Badehaus had been extensively swept through downstairs though not upstairs where it was still rather messy, and there was a cement mixer inside the foyer. And we got disturbed inside the male pavilion by someone coming in with the keys through the main entrance. It seemed to be architects or engineers. Now add to that the amount of rampant deforesting that's been done around that building and it all points to work beginning. Oh, plus they're pulling the roof tiles off the buildings in the south west quadrant and stacking them...

I fear the days of easy access are numbered... :(

Yes, it's right next to the active hospital, called 'Landhotel Gustav, looks rather pleasant and actually offers a pretty in depth history of the old hospital on its website that is worth a look.

It did look like attempts were being made in various areas, including lots of builders style mesh metal fencing around the NW quarter, and tarpaulin sheeting over some of the damaged areas of some of the roofs.

As nice it is would be to see it restored to its former glory, it would be a great loss I think. Also I doubt the builders plans are to renovate back to original condition, more likely to cram as many flats into each building as possible :(. Hopefully not before August as I've just booked my revisit
