Hi all

Last report from me from Poland, no jokes, no comedy, no cheep comments.

This was the first site we went to, it was one of a number for forts built to protect Poznan at the begining of the 19C, this one was later used by the SS in WW2 as a prison and a
Nazi concentration camp. According to different estimates, between 4,500 and 20,000 people, mostly Poles from Poznań and the surrounding region, died while imprisoned at the camp.

There are still marks in some of the walls outside where people were shot.

Onwards.

This is a memorial to the people that lost there lives here at the hands of the SS, people were shot, hanged and gassed daily, sort of brings it home to you.

That memorial is very moving. Thanks for the post Newage. It's important to remember these things.

Very sobering. Looks like they are maintaining it tastefully.
Thanks for sharing :)

From what I could see it`s the only one of the forts that ring Poznan thats a museum there are about 13 in total.
