Not a million miles from the sugar refinery complex, this small site represents the remnants of a Japanese Army base that was probably constructed before or early on in the second world war. Nothing too spectacular - the buildings represent what are probably army billets along with a number of air-raid shelters. Other than my conjecture I can find no hard fast history about this place.
Most of the buildings are roofless ex-army billets:

And then I came across this building closer to the railway station. Don't think it's ex-army or dating back as far as the second world war. Looks like it may have been a hair-dressers(?) in the past:
