This fairly non-discript farmhouse hidden away in a village is rammed full of old belongings.

History

Owned by the Muller Family, consisting of a widow and 3 children, this house was left empty when mother died and the children moved out.

Its probably been empty only 10-15 years, but the house has suffered badly with the roof falling in on one of the floors.

The Explore

This was a nice easy mouch, with no drama with nosy neighbours. Its set just at the edge of a village with fields of cows right next door.

Having just been to Maison Kirsch only a couple days prior my expectations were high, and to be honest this wasn't quite in the same league of time warps. Maison Hommel feels like a newer house, but still has some very nice features and decor. Although I suspect it's an older building than it looks.

The ceiling upstairs has collapsed in places and isn't looking too good. I went up into the loft, but had to be very careful not to fall through the rather soft floor.

This is where the ceiling has collapsed.

That would have been a very well appointed and grand house when it was first built. Sadly the out of character later modifications did nothing to improve the situation. Very nice set of images of this place, a lesser building than the usual 'mansions' of the large scale continental landowners. These places; owned originally by owners of much smaller land holdings, are usually full of wonderful architectural detailing - done to make these properties stand out alongside their bigger, but not always grander, brethren!
