Unfortunately no history on this one. Judging by the name and the buildings it made parts for planes. It looks unlikely there was ever an airstrip here, therefore it was probably just parts. There were also few auxiliary buildings and a guard tower etc.
This is about 20-30 mins drive from the commercial airport in Berlin, so within 20 mins of picking up our hired derp-mobile we were in.

Was a brilliant weekend...last year
Nice to finally see your pictures from here, they turned out good.

Aww thanks, see you even made a cameo in the main square :p! Yeah I've been a bit slow with reports lately...

As Flugplatz translates as 'runway' or 'airfield', suggest that large factory building has nothing to do with with the tower and the evidently lost runway and its interior does not suggest aircraft maintenance or hangerage. Given that the Authorities were very jittery to the thoughts of aircraft landing during the period of the Communist Era and the 'Berlin Wall', the airfield was probably demolished and ploughed up.

Or half inched to form part of a motorway....:glee:

“It was built from 1936 to 1939 and used until 1945 as a factory to make Luftwaffe of the Wehrmacht . In April 1945, the airfield was completely destroyed by an air raid.
After the Second World War , the still intact facilities of the factory were almost completely dismantled by the Soviet occupying forces. However, the runway was repaired and used until 1994 by the Soviet Air Force as a military airfield. Since 2003, the construction of the new Federal Highway uses most of the runway as a route for the west bypass. The original runway was 2500m x 52m”
