Die Nieuwe Molens translates as "The New Mill", but nothing was particularly new in this building in terms of what it had to offer explorers

It was a relatively easy site, highly regarded by those who've visited it. It does look as if some demolition has taken place, so perhaps the jewels in it's crown have been removed?

As with other sites in Belgium, Die Nieuwe Molens was build close to the canal, for obvious transportation reasons. Gent is situated just 30km away from the sea, providing easy access to the Netherlands and the north coast of Belgium.

Inside was reminiscent of outdated and disused industrial buildings in the Uk. columns holding up the ceilings, conveyor belts and industrial accouterments.

JN Miller sprung to mind, the sawdust on the wooden floors, creaking and riddled with holes reminding me of a colourful day in February.

We made it onto the slippery roof, to the top of the silos.

Beneath was an old gasometer. We decided not to climb it.

Not the greatest of sites, the bread and butter of urbex perhaps, but sometimes they throw up a real gem.
