Communist concrete art!

I spotted these by the motorway just south of Prague! I'm still at a loss as to their purpose other than works of art put in place during the Russians before the velvet revolution.
They don't seem to be maintained by anyone.
Please excuse the quality, these were taken in 2003 with my old digicam.
Any clues anyone?

This was some sort of fountain in a small town called Jicin 50miles NE of Prague.

You've got to take your hats of the the commies. They know how to make concrete look good.

Yeah looks good in a cheap way.

I love this stuff. Is the second from bottom pic meant to resemble a ships hull?
The other stuff looks like a square fruit bowl and a bent staple!

One thing springs to mind when I see some of those.

The first one looks like a slice of the Tricorn centre!
