Hi folks

I've been meaning to visit this site for ages but managed to get the chance today. Its some sort of aggregate mill I'm going to research it and will post back my findings. I took quite a few pics so the ones I havn't shown here I will post on my picture site when I find a good one suggestions welcome).
The site is situated on the other side of the M73 from Annathill on Drumcavel Road North Lanarkshire. Flash earth Link: http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=55.903394&lon=-4.069093&z=18.5&r=0&src=msa

On the opposite side of the road there is a new aggregate site so this is probably a clue.

The pictures turned out better than I thought as I had to use my camera phone as my camera has broken waiting for a new one to arrive. Enjoy the pics

Hiya Si-G
Excellent find...quarries are great, imo, there's something a bit special about them methinks! :D Look forward to your further report and pics.

Re picture sites...I use photobucket as a storage for photos and A/W, as it's extremely easy to paste from there to, um...anywhere else. I'm currently working on a public gallery in lieu of a proper website for my urbex photos and using fotopic net, which is supposed to be easy-peasy, but is taking me forever to do anything with as I really don't know what I'm doing! So, not much help there then!
Photobucket's great though...even I can use it, so it's got to be easy! :D

Cheers :)

Hi Foxy,

Thanks for your comments and suggestion of photo bucket. I have now uploaded about 40 of the pictures I took at this mill heres the link: http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc149/Derelict-Si/Old Aggregate Mill/

As you will see in a couple of the pictures it started to dull down as I was leaving, sleety rain tuh. Still some not bad results for my camera phone , hopefully my new camera will arrive this week.

Cheers
Simon

Really enjoyed seeing the other photos you took Simon. What an interesting site. Was there any evidence of excavation nearby at all?
Seeing that one makes me more determined to go back to the quarry I explored a couple of weeks ago...got to get up to the other buildings and machinery. When doing some googling about my one I saw an aerial pic of it and the excavations are huge and amazing. :D

Cheers :)

Hi Foxylady

If you look at this link below on flash earth to the left you will see a small lake this would suggest there has been excavation. I didn't originally think of looking for that so thanks. Also to the right of the lake there is some flattened ground that has now grown over, there is also overgrown tracks to the lake from the site, so the site is bigger than first impressions.

Can you give me a flash earth link to the site you have been looking at and would love to see the pics.

Sorry it took a while to get back to you Simon...one helluva'n'orrible week plus my browser kept going down. Anyway, the pics from my explore are on the following thread.

http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?t=3089

Also here's a link to a site with the excavation photos. They're from 2002 and the site is much larger now. I only got to explore around a fifth before I reckon, but with it being chalk I need some good weather days before going back.

And one with a map.

I'm...um...not very good with navigating flashearth, but I'll give it a go now then post it up.

Cheers :)

Hi Foxylady

Thanks for those pics, looks a excellent explore and a very big site. There are a good few quarries around where I stay, I remember as a boy my dad would take me to a local one that was converted into a picnic area. We use to swim round it, like many this one's excavated area is filled with water. I see now you are not aloud to swim there anymore, most folks now use it to rock climb.

I could'nt access the link on flash earth but managed to locate the place by postcode on flash earth. Here it is if anyone else has problems accessing it.
