S Russell and Sons were Engineers and machine tool makers in Leicester.

In 1864 Company founded and in April 1927 they purchased the goodwill of the metal sawing machine department of the Isaac Hill and Son Ltd. and secured the services of Mr D. M. J. Hill late of that firm. Later in 1931 they became a Private company. In 1937 Structural and general engineers. "Nicrosilal" Alloy Irons. "Ni-Hard" and "Ni-Resist" Alloy Irons. "Silal" Alloy Irons. The company was made Public in 1948.
1961 Ironfounders, mechanical and structural engineers, handling high grade iron castings and S.G. (Ductile) iron castings. Mechanical engineers producing metal sawing machinery including the "Hydrofeed" range of heavy circular metal sawing machines. Specialists in steel framed buildings, quarry plant structures and fabricated steel machinery components and employed 675 people.

Having an engineering background i was very keen to see this one and was really nice having a look round. Just wish i'd have had a little more time on the ground floor before being busted. But these things happen from time to time.

Was a bit dark at first and had to wait for the light to shine through, thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Yes i was, but these things happen. Just glad they had a firm grip on the dog lol, it did look a beast.

it is a lovely place ain't it.it really is just how they left it.kind of sad really.nice pics mate
 
wow cant believe this place has closed, i went there a few years ago to change some hydraulic hoses on a machine. The Maintenance guy made me a cup of tea and insisted on doing all the dirty work i remember he was quite old.
 
These are some excellent pictures jsp :) this is an amazing place! Shame the explore was cut off early. That dog did look mean.
 
Nice one JSP. Proper industry.
There might be patterns from the company that I work for in there somewhere. Sad really.
