In December 2015 Police and Crime Commissioner Nick Alston announced that 15 police stations were to be closed to the public in Essex as part of a £63million spending cut. Brentwood Police Station was one of 9 closing completely.
The station closed to the public in April 2016, and was vacated in December 2017. Operations have now moved to the local Town Hall. The building was closed as it cost £10million per year in running costs, and would have cost a further £30million in maintenance to bring it up to standard.

That was a fun day out! I love your pics, you got some really good ones. Great work!

Built in the 1930s by the looks?

Correct and full of the architectural horrors that came with the designs of that period. Ceiling plaster work that would not have looked out of place in Georgian properties - only thing was the Georgian stuff stayed up there, the '30's renderings cracked and loosened. The damaged ceilings then had to be hidden under a 'suspended' mess of asbestos containing tiles. Spent too many hours surveying Railway buildings of that period - soul destroying.

That's why I say it will probably be demolished, they look lovely, but they're impossible to re-use in any cost effective way that works in the modern world.

it always feels like you're taking the piss when you do a government building like a police station Lol
Nice work Rubex :)
