A couple of examples of locations from a reference book which was based on official government documents.

Taking location information from AA Command here are two examples to show what can be wrong.

First example - good location info (Barrows Green, Q/H17, HAA Battery site).

Second example - erroneous location information (un-named site near Bolton-Upon-Dearne, ?/H17 as shown in recent report by Ragamuffin)

If we went to the location given in AA Command we'd be spot on for the first site...and unlikely to find the second (unless we'd looked at the aerial photo first). The error isn't due to the conversion from military to OSGB position or transformation/datum errors it is because the original documents don't show the correct location.
