Hi, Long time lurker, new member. I love looking at all the images, and I find all the risks taken quite amazing.
I haven't taken part in any reports yet as I unfortunately have very little time at the moment to be able to do any explores.

Anyway, to my point.

This doesn't have anything to do with the actual location of the asylum, more to do with it's history. My ex-girlfriend had a interest in family history, and when she was researching mine she discovered that my late great-grandfather was a resident of Bracebridge Heath Asylum, and subsequently died there. I have since acquired a copy of all the medical notes. Would anyone be interested in this?

You might want to consider confidentiality as there may be other branches of the family that might object to stuff like that being posted on the web, word gets around suprisingly fast now days.

I work in Mental Health Services and even today it is not suprising that some folks are still embarrased by relatives with mental health problems.

I imagine the file was interesting to read, what time period are you talking about? 50's 60's etc

He was taken in on 25 november 1911... I remember having to get the paperwork signed off and approved by his next of kin (my 89 year old grandfather) and the authorities to allow the information to be released. As the 100 year rule will no longer apply imminently it is of my opinion that as no one who is alive remembers him (he died 7/8 years before my grandad was born) the issue of family being upset is unjustifiable.

I would also be interested, both for reasons of general interest, and as reference material for my sociology course 'history of mental health treatment' unit. (If you're even still on the forum that is)

Apologies mods for dragging up such an old thread ;)
